Survival

Weight, bandages and training

What carrying too much costs you, how bandages heal, what guild training costs, and two smaller rules from Roleplay & Realism.

These rules come from the Roleplay & Realism mods, which are on by default and fixed for everyone online. See Which rules apply.

Carrying too much

Nothing happens until you carry three quarters of your maximum load. Beyond that, the part over three quarters (counted up to 120% of your limit) is doubled and taken off two things:

  • your Speed, by that fraction of your permanent Speed, though never lower than 2,
  • your fatigue, which drains as long as you stay overloaded.

At 100% of your limit you are over by a quarter, doubled to a half, so you move at about half your Speed. At 120% you lose 90% of it.

Bandages

Bandages stack. Using one heals your Medical skill ÷ 3, to a limit of 40% of your maximum health, and takes one bandage off the stack. Shops can stock them, and a character with Medical as a primary or major skill starts with four. See Starting gear.

Guild training

A guild trainer’s price depends on your skill. A skill near zero trains for half price, and the price rises to the full amount as the skill nears the trainer’s limit. The extra-cost five-day intensive course is switched off, and online it is off for everyone.

Two small rules

  • You cannot climb with a weapon drawn. Sheathe it first, or the attempt fails.
  • A lit light goes out when you leave a dungeon by day. The game tells you it has doused it.
