How long one meal keeps you full at each spoil stage.
Food spoils one stage at a time, faster in the heat. Each stage divides what the meal is worth: Stale is half, Mouldy a third, Rotten a quarter. Putrid food will not go down at all.
Cooking
Meat from animals you kill, rats included, is Raw Meat. Raw fish is Raw Fish. Both are worth far more cooked.
- Get a fire. Either place a Campfire from your pack (F6), or use a fire already in the world: a brazier or hearth burns forever and costs nothing.
- Stand close, within about 4 metres.
- Activate the fire (left click or E) and choose Cook.
- Pick what to cook from the list.
| Time per piece | |
|---|---|
| Cooking | 30 minutes |
| With a Skillet in your pack | 15 minutes |
Cooking also takes the food one stage back toward fresh, so cook meat before it goes off.
Campfires
- A Campfire holds 8 nights of fuel. Each night you sleep at it uses one.
- Pick it back up from its menu to take the remaining fuel with you.
- General Stores and Pawn Shops always have a Campfire and Rations on the counter.
Eating raw or spoiled food
On the normal survival tiers it is simply a poorer meal. On Hard, raw or spoiled food can make you sick.
