The odds

  • Barbarian stronghold treasure pile (tier 11): 1.8% of eligible pieces roll Legendary; this record is from 1 in 1.4 to 1 in 2.4 of those, by base piece; about 0.77% to 1.3% per piece
  • Human stronghold treasure pile (tier 6): 1.1% of eligible pieces roll Legendary; this record is from 1 in 1.4 to 1 in 2.4 of those, by base piece; about 0.44% to 0.76% per piece
  • Dragon's den treasure pile (tier 18), a place of another family: 2.9% of eligible pieces roll Legendary; this record is from 1 in 3 to 1 in 4 of those, by base piece; about 0.73% to 0.98% per piece

Odds are per weapon, armour or jewellery piece in the loot, at Luck 50 with no finders. See Item rarity for how luck and the dry-spell bonus change them.

What its power does

Tribute

Each foe you kill pays you 5 gold for each of its levels.

How it drops

Where it drops

There is no monster that carries King's Mark and no chest that holds it. A piece of jewellery drops first (any piece of jewellery), and if that piece rolls Legendary on the ladder, the game picks one named record that fits it. Records found among warrior sources weigh five to one, so King's Mark is far likelier from the places listed here. Any weapon, armour or jewellery in any corpse or treasure pile can be rolled, so a source of another family can still give it, at the lower odds shown on the last line.

Getting the base piece

A piece has to drop before it can be Legendary. These come from the loot tables (see Loot tables) and from what a foe carries. The odds above are per eligible piece, at Luck 50, with no finders. Luck, Foxglove and a long dry spell multiply them, as the Item rarity page explains.

Loot rarity is on by default and forced on online. A Legendary is the second rung from the top of the ladder (Common, Magic, Rare, Legendary, Aetheric, Artifact, Gilded). Its bonuses are fixed; only its condition varies. Foes of its family drop it five times as readily as any other.
